Expelled

Last week I attending a showing of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed", Ben Stein's new movie.  I thought it was very interesting, thought provoking, and informative.  As the movie transpired, I found myself wondering who would be attending this movie across the country and what they'd have to say about it after viewing it.  So, if you have seen the movie and want to share your thoughts, feel free to leave a comment below.  If you haven't seen it yet, the following video (below) might encourage you to see it.  The movie is only appearing in select theaters, but it would be worth your time to find one of them.

This video features R. C. Sproul (Acclaimed author of numerous books and founder of Ligonier Ministries) interviewing Ben Stein.  It is a very enlightening discussion...and one that makes me want to be more informed on history, science, and theology.

I saw the movie.

It makes a mountains out of molehills. There is no such thing as "Big Science". The people they interviewed as being "expelled" all have another side to their stories which weren't presented at all. For example, Stein said of Richard von Sternberg, "He has been terrorized, and his life ruined" That is beyond stretching the truth. He didn't lose his position, and the "terrorism" and "ruin" amounted to some colleagues sending emails among themselves critisizing von Sternberg for the shoddy way he handled the peer reivew process before publishing Meyer's paper.

Also, the movie demonized scientists as being atheists, but this is also not the case. It was merely the decision of the producers not to present or interview any scientists who have no trouble combining their belief in God with their science.

"Expelled" is a shoddy piece of propaganda that props up the failures of Intelligent Design by playing the victim card. It deceives its audiences, slanders the scientific community, and contributes mightily to a climate of hostility to science itself.

Thanks for your feedback. That is what I wanted. We obviously disagree, but thanks for articulating your opinion. What did you (or anybody else) think of the Sproul video. He makes some great points, but you have to admit he's no intellectual lightweight.
